Striking, serious-looking actress who, after a brief stage career, became
one of the leading ladies of problem-of-the week TV movies: Stephanie Zimbalist played a kidnap victim in Yesterday's Child; a grieving
family member in In the Matter of Karen Ann Quinlan; and a lovelorn teenager in Forever. She is probably best known for her role as stylish sleuth Laura Holt on the
long-running detective series, Remington Steele (1982-1987), opposite Pierce
Brosnan. Stephanie Zimbalist has since given strong, sympathetic
performances portraying independent working women in the TV movie The
Story Lady (1991) and in the off-Broadway surrogate-mother
drama, The Baby Dance

The daughter of actor Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Stephanie Zimbalist was raised
on the family's Encino, California ranch and educated at some of America's finest private schools. She then took
acting and singing lessons at Julliard. After appearing onstage with Anthony Hopkins in The Tempest, she launched
her TV career with an unsold NBC pilot in 1976. Gaining stardom in a variety of TV-movie roles, she turned down
several series offers, finally acquiescing to the producers of the weekly adventure series Remington Steele. From
1982 to 1987, Stephanie Zimbalist starred as glamorous private investigator Laura Holt, the largely reluctant teammate
of handsome adventurer Remington Steele, played by Pierce Brosnan. Periodically resuming her stage career over
the last two decades, Stephanie Zimbalist has co-starred with Tommy Tune in the 1987 touring company of My One
and Only, and has recently starred in several California-based theatrical productions.
Stephanie Zimbalist appeared on November 9, 1997 in the CBS series Touched
by an Angel. Her most recent tv movie is Lifetime's Prison of Secrets and her last
stage appearance was in Wonderful Town (Nov. 19-23, 1997).
